Right. Furthermore, it is possible there are steps done in the test servers which failed to be recorded, so they were missed when applying to the productions servers. Basically test servers can reduce, but not eliminate mistakes and issues.

In some environment running very important service, they make the test environment exactly the same as the production environment, and when they need to deploy to production they simply switch test environment and production environment (after synchronize the last data changes). This mechanism produce more reliable deployment, but obviously much more expensive. I guess MMORPG services are not that important.
